Scene 1: Jumble’s House

“Where can it all have gone?” yelled Mr Peasbag, a florid round man with tufts of hair like wheat grass growing out of the top of his head, “I only put the  laundry out this morning, and now half of it is all over the garden or disappeared.”

“Someone said they saw a ghost take it,” bleated Mrs Pantryfull, an even larger doughy looking woman who looked rather like a bread roll herself.

“So what’s been happening over at Jemima’s house Jem?” demanded Michael.

“Err, yeah! It’s all rather magical actually Dad! Mumble, I mean Jemima’s dog discovered the Lost Sock Graveyard in her back garden and made a path out of other people’s laundry, so that we could find it too,”Jem managed to blurt out.
